Our Mission: The Association for Strategic Planning™ - Chicago Chapter is committed to enhancing the profession of Strategic Planning and enabling people and organizations to succeed through improved strategic thinking, planning and execution. How: This will be achieved by focusing on improving the knowledge level and skill set of members and guests. We will accomplish this through the sharing of best practices and the delivery of informative, thought provoking presentations and development programs that create value and result in attracting high quality individuals from the best companies in the Chicago area. Our offerings are designed to build on expanding their knowledge, ability, and skills in strategic thinking, planning and execution. The Association of Strategic Planning - Chicago has entered into a local strategic alliance with Strategic Management Association! This alliance will enable both organizations to enhance the level of benefits to our strategy community. Through this alliance the ASP-Chicago will coordinate all the events and will assume the membership services role. All SMA supporters are encouraged to join the ASP-Chicago! ASP Chicago is pleased to work with DePaul University's Continuing and Professional Education to offer of the Strategic Management Certificate program to ASP members. This certificate program is delivered online over ten weeks (ten sessions) designed to build skills and provide practical "process" solutions in strategic planning and management for established corporate planning units, strategic planning and management consultants and emerging strategy management professionals. ASP members seeking professional certification and credentialing from the Association for Strategic Planning should note the CSM is an approved program by the Association for Strategic Planning. CSM is delivered by ASP Registered Education Provider, Randall Rollinson with fellow Chicago Chapter member John Sterling as co-instructor. The Strategic Management Certificate Program covers the entire strategic planning and management cycle. The program is aligned with ASP's "Lead-Think-Plan-Act" Body of Knowledge guide and the recommended practices addressed in ASP certification standards. The 90 minute "live online" sessions are organized to dive deep into these phases and outline the steps of a practical strategic management process. "A must take class for anyone serious about understanding the art of Strategic Management. The combination of academic principles, industry practices and practical exercises will crystallize your thoughts on moving this process forward in your organization. My three ring binder overflows with information detailing the system components of Lead, Think, Plan, Act. A perfect addition to this course is the book 'Strategy in the 21st Century'. The detail included on the 13 Strategic Management Steps alone is invaluable to understanding the breadth of this process. I will be re-reading this book and using as a quick reference guide for years to come." — John Holbrook ASP Member and Strategy Officer Zeus Inc.
"I highly recommend this program for both new and experienced strategy professionals. Whether enrolling as an introductory class or a back-to-basics refresher, the Certificate in Strategic Management program offers an excellent academic view of the strategic management process. It provides a detailed, step-by-step process applicable to any business situation, and is an excellent source of reference." — Jan Carlson ASP Member and Strategic Planner, Corporate Strategy Sprint Nextel
"I am happy to say I just received word that I passed the SPP exam. I found in taking the exam that what we learned as part of the Certificate in Strategic Management class was very helpful." — Katy Johnson Regional Marketing Manager STV Incorporated For complete program information and the 2012 schedule visit the DePaul University's Strategic Management Certificate Program. The ASP-Chicago Chapter includes strategy professionals from industry, academia, and the nonprofit sector who are committed to making better strategic business decisions.
