To get our conversation started, Sharon Odom and Jason Osterhage will relate their experiences implementing an office of strategy management (OSM) at Delta Community Credit Union, a $3.5 billion consumer finance cooperative based in Atlanta.
Sharon and Jason will share how they addressed tough OSM implementation issues like:
How can the OSM template be modified to fit unique organizational contexts?
What are the implications of the OSM’s location on the organization chart?
How does one manage the perception that an OSM creates new layers of bureaucratic overhead?
What is best balance of strategic alignment mechanisms and strategic participation mechanisms?
What can one do to create an appropriate and effective sub-culture within the OSM?

Sharon R. Odom has worked at Delta Community Credit Union since 2002 and currently serves as Vice President– Strategic Planning & Performance. In this role, she provides leadership for strategy formulation, enterprise initiative and change management, central business intelligence/analytics, and enterprise performance reporting.

Jason Osterhage
SVP – Lending & Corporate Strategy, Delta Community Credit Union
From 2005 to 2007, Jason led the team that created Delta Community Credit Union’s office of strategy management. Today he continues to oversee that Strategic Planning & Performance function and is also responsible for the Credit Union’s lending operations including Consumer Loan Services, Real Estate Services, Business Services, Recovery Services, and Secondary Loan Markets. Before joining Delta Community in 2005, Jason served on the management team of Delta Air Lines’ industry-leading low-fare service, Song.
